New factories and technologies in the USA for Clayens Group
The Clayens Group is accelerating its development in North America with the acquisition since January 2023 of 13 manufacturing sites in the USA and Mexico. These acquisitions enable Clayens to strengthen its presence in North America by diversifying its customer portfolio and integrating new technologies, particularly in Healthcare.
Among these acquisitions, three new sites located near Chicago (Crystal Lake, IL) and near Boston (East Providence RI and Wallingford, CT) strengthen the existing Clayens Healthcare offering in North America together with the Torreón site in Mexico and its ISO7 cleanroom. All these sites are ISO 13485 certified and FDA registered.
The Crystal Lake (USA) and Torreón (Mex) sites specialize in manufacturing pharmaceutical products such as primary and secondary packaging, including syringes (pre-filled and non-pre-filled), Tubs, Nests and sharps containers. The contribution of the Crystal Lake site is significant as it alone represents nearly 40,000 m² of ISO8 cleanrooms and nearly 88 injection molding presses. In addition to their classified environments (ISO8 for Crystal Lake and ISO7 for Torreón), these sites are distinguished by the high level of process automation implemented for production.
The two other sites near Boston specialize in medical devices, including surgical kits, diagnostic kits, imaging, cardiology and dental. The technologies used are also highly diverse: the East Providence site, which has an ISO8 cleanroom, remains focused on injection technologies, including micro-injection (52 injection machines from 7 to 300 tonnes), overmolding and manufacturing of bioresorbable PLA implants. The Wallingford site specializes in machining (38 CNC machines). Note that these 2 sites can support customers on product launches or very low-volume production.
These recent acquisitions give the Clayens Group a new dimension with 5,500 people, revenue of EUR 700M, and an industrial base of 33 sites worldwide.
