Clayens: Together to fight breast cancer!
Every year, the month of October takes on the color of solidarity: pink. Pink October has become an important period worldwide to raise awareness of the fight against breast cancer.
The "Pink Challenge" at Clayens: walking for a good cause
This year, Clayens fully committed to the cause by taking part in the "Pink Challenge": from 7 to 30 October, all our subsidiaries mobilized for a challenge where walking becomes a true wave of solidarity.
The principle is simple: in teams of 5, each employee syncs their phone and walks to support the "Courir pour elle" association! Every step counts to climb the ranking and increase funds raised.
Our sites laced up their sneakers around the world to take on this challenge!
We are particularly proud of our 83 teams who fully invested themselves in the cause.
Overall, we took 48,634,094 steps, equivalent to 807 marathons, or 85% of a full trip around the Earth, ranking Clayens 12th among the 25 companies involved in this challenge. Following this great result, we are delighted to donate EUR 5,000 to the "Courir pour Elles" association. This donation will enable the association to continue its cancer prevention actions and support women affected by the disease by giving them access to Adapted Physical Activity (APA) sessions in hospital or community settings.
A special congratulations to the "Materials preparation team" from our NP Genas subsidiary, which ranked first among the 509 teams in the inter-company challenge from start to finish. ✊

Many of our sites also organized the traditional "wear pink day", where everyone proudly wears this emblematic color to show support for the fight against breast cancer. Awareness actions were deployed by our subsidiaries to inform and encourage screening among our employees.

A few figures to keep in mind…
In 2023, the number of new breast cancer cases worldwide approached 2.3 million. Having caused 685,000 deaths, it remains the leading cause of cancer in women in 157 out of 185 countries. Half of cases occur in women with no specific risk factors other than sex and age. Although it mainly affects women, this cancer also affects men, who represent between 0.5% and 1% of cases. These figures remind us of the importance of screening and prevention. When detected early, breast cancer can be cured in 90% of cases.
