Connected primary packaging: NP Plastibell and STMicroelectronics will unveil their connected syringe at Pharmapack!
At the Pharmapack trade show, NP Plastibell and STMicroelectronics will present their latest innovation: a connected pre-filled syringe able to communicate with its environment via an NFC tag integrated inside the syringe barrel. This innovation gives healthcare professionals and patients access to important information.
The NFC tag, with its ultra-miniaturized antenna, is directly overmolded into the syringe by NP Plastibell. It is programmed when the syringe is filled and then contains information for patients and healthcare professionals, enabling product traceability from manufacture. This mechanism also provides usage recommendations and warnings, authenticates the product and even enables interactions between the various stakeholders.
