CLAYENS NP, through its subsidiary AIP, acquires PIT, a company specialized in precision machining

Chassieu, 30 April 2021,

AIP, a subsidiary of the CLAYENS NP group, has finalized the acquisition of PIT, a company specialized in machining technical materials.

Founded in 1983 in the Lyon region, PIT has specialized from the outset in machining technical parts in aluminum, carbon, thermosets and thermoplastics. The expertise acquired by PIT enables it to serve a diverse customer base operating in highly demanding sectors such as aerospace, defense, motorsport, electronics…

With nearly 40 employees, PIT recorded revenue of EUR 6.4M in 2020. Positioned in relatively non-cyclical markets, the company has demonstrated great resilience since the first lockdown in March 2020.

Founded in 1931, the CLAYENS NP group is today one of the European leaders in advanced polymer, composite and precision metal parts processing, with revenue of EUR 320M and more than 3,300 employees across 23 plants in Europe, North Africa and Mexico. The group provides solutions tailored to each of its customers across all business sectors. Since October 2019, CLAYENS NP has been supported in its development by a pool of financial investors led by SIPAREX.

A Clayens NP subsidiary, AIP is a European reference player in plastics and composite materials processing by machining, injection and thermoforming, mainly for the aerospace and healthcare sectors.

The combination of AIP and PIT strengthens the machining division of the CLAYENS NP group, and in particular complements its know-how in aluminum and carbon machining. The new division will benefit from strengthened industrial and human resources to support its customers even more closely in France and internationally.

Following this acquisition, Mr Laurent MAES, Managing Director of AIP, becomes Director of PIT.

Eric Pisani, CEO of the CLAYENS NP group : "The acquisition of PIT will enable CLAYENS NP to strengthen its machining division built around its AIP subsidiary, by complementing its know-how to facilitate its development. PIT will benefit from CLAYENS NP support functions (R&D, Purchasing, ...) to consolidate and expand its customer base and product range."

Laurent Maes, Director of AIP & PIT : "PIT's know-how will enable us to meet our customers' demand for plastic products integrating aluminum, carbon and thermoset parts, to respond on the one hand to growing demand for supplier panel rationalization and consolidation and on the other hand to diversify our respective business sectors."
